Cauliflower Soup

Soups can always be made interesting, colorful, and flavorful. The cauliflower soup was one of my experiments and it was a great success. Not only it was a healthy option but it also helped in constipation for my baby. This is an easy to prepare soup and can be given to babies 6 months+. Serve it alongside with bread.


  • PREP TIME: 15 minutes
  • COOK TIME: 10 minutes  
  • SERVES: 1 Baby/ Toddler
  • SUITABLE FROM: 6 months +

INGREDIENTS:

  • Cauliflower – 8-10 florets
  • Onion – 1/2 cup
  • Tomato – 1/2 cup
  • Garlic – 1 clove
  • Butter – To saute
  • Pepper – a pinch
  • Water

METHOD:

  1. Clean and blanch cauliflower floret in boiling hot water.
  2. Blanched florets can either be oven roasted or shallow fried in a pan.
  3. In a separate pan, add some butter and saute onion, garlic, and tomatoes.
  4. Add roasted cauliflower and some water to this and bring it to boil.
  5. Cooldown the mixture and grind them to a smooth paste.
  6. Transfer the mixture to a pot and add the required amount of water to bring it to soup consistency.
  7. Let it all mix well and boil for 5-10 mins.
  8. The soup is now ready to be served. Add a pinch of pepper while serving.

NOTE:

  • Oven-roasted cauliflower gives a better taste. Roast it for 5-7 minutes in the oven until it turns golden brown.
  • More veggies like carrots and peas can be added to this soup.

VEGAN OPTION:

  • Replace butter with avocado oil.
