Protein-Rich Dosa Recipe

Well, this has to be a must recipe in my list. I come from a place where dosa was originated. This recipe is coming straight from my mom. This is a variety of dosa batter made using pulses, so it is rich in protein & an amazing diet for babies as well as adults.

  • PREP TIME: 8 hours
  • COOK TIME: 10 minutes  
  • SERVES: 10 Babies/ Toddlers/ adults
  • SUITABLE FROM: 6 months +

INGREDIENTS:

For Soaking

  • Split Pigeon Pea (Toor Dal) – 1/2 cup
  • Split Black gram (Urad Dal) – 1/2 cup
  • Split Chickpea (Channa Dal) – 1/2 cup
  • Split Green gram (Moong Dal) – 1/2 cup
  • Rice – 1/2 cup

While Grinding

  • Cumin seeds – 1 tsp
  • Ginger – 1 inch
  • Red chilly (dried) – 2
  • Coriander – handful
  • Onion – 1/2 (optional)

METHOD:

  1. Soak all the ingredients given under ingredients for soaking together for about 5-6 hours.
  2. Wash them well and add it to a blender or a mixer grinder.
  3. To this add the spices given in ingredients and grind them all together into a thin batter.
  4. Add the required amount of water while grinding.
  5. Mix them well & allow it to ferment overnight. Dosa batter is now ready.
  6. You can now spread this batter on a hot pan to make yummy dosas.
  7. Goes well with onion chutney/ coconut chutney. Serve it along with Yogurt if your little one does not like it spicy.
  8. Enjoy!

NOTES:

  • Red Chilly can be replaced with red chilly powder. It can also be eliminated based on preference.
  • This batter stays fresh for a week in the refrigerator.
